Offering a new solution in instrumentation for radioactivity monitoring in ocean ecosystems

A lack of effective and tailored instruments for radioactivity monitoring of marine environments presents a key challenge. While collaborative efforts exist, there is a gap between the instruments available for use in the oceans and those used for land and air. Addressing this, the EU-funded RAMONES project aims to offer a cutting-edge solution in instrumentation and robotic sensing platforms for radioactivity monitoring in ocean ecosystems. It will design, develop and validate a new generation of radiation detection instruments that will provide high efficiency and fine resolution for spectroscopic studies as well as state-of-the-art sensors and methods for the generation of underwater instruments for radiation measurement in extreme locations.
