MARA
Developing new technologies for the diagnosis and treatment of bacterial infections
The aim of the MARA project is to address the limitations often encountered in present diagnostic tests. The consortium will be developing three radically novel technologies. These consist of the realisation of Autonomous Detection Nucleic Acids (AUDENA), the employment of a novel approach in protein mimicry and creation of artificial enzymes, as well as the development of a molecular robot (MORO). All these make up MARA’s DNA-based molecular toolkit which will lead to a breakthrough in several fields such as biotechnology, biomedical manufacturing and the energy sector.
