A new treatment for type-2 diabetes combining molecular phenotyping, imaging technology and computing approaches


OPTOMICS is a 60-month project with the goal of generating and validating a digital-twin model for developing non-invasive and inexpensive prognostic treatment and planning methods to combat type-2 diabetes. By integrating state-of-the-art multi-omics molecular phenotyping at the DNA, protein and metabolite level with non-invasive imaging technology, and leveraging Artificial Intelligence and statistical methods, OPTOMIC aims to develop a new methodology to build better predictors of diabetes and its complications and thereby deliver a paradigm shift in type-2 diabetes healthcare.
