Exploring Big Data of the Past
September 1st 2019 - September 5th 2019
Conferences and exhibitions center “Lienzo Norte”, Ávila, Spain
The Time Machine consortium consists of 400+ research facilities, institutions and companies and aims to transform miles of archives and museum collections in the form of an increasingly deeper networked information system integrating space and time in multi-scalar architecture. Researchers from Time Machine focus particularly on improving current methods for data collection, data processing and theoretical approaches linked to digital heritage, and explore the cultural, economic and social added value of big data of the past as common resources for the future.
They will host a workshop during the 27th CIPA symposium entitled, “Multimodal explorations of Big Data of the Past” .Participants are invited to explore the potential of the Time Machine for digital heritage scholarship aiming at:
- Informing participants about the Time Machine project, its structure, cutting-edge technologies and best research practices;
- Building capacities amongst participants: In a hands-on mini hackathon, moderators will invite participants to explore the research potential of several components of Time Machine, namely digitization, computer vision, GIS and map tagging, 3D modelling, user experience design and testing, and augmented reality with citizen science;
- Inviting participants to contribute to the Time Machine road map by sharing their mini hackathon experiences in a final, evaluation session.
