300+ cities all across Europe

SHARE THIS EVENT:

Like every year since 2005, the European Researchers’ Night (NIGHT) will take place all over the continent on the last Friday of the month of September. It is organised by the European Union and it aims at bringing scientists and society in contact with each other in an informal way. This will be done by organising public science outreach events in hundreds of European cities, to give researchers the possibility to showcase their investigation to non-technical audiences in an easy-to-understand way.

Last year’s NIGHT involved 342 cities, almost 22 000 researchers and more than 1 million visitors.

Scientists have a wide range of outreach activities to choose from in order to thrill and engage their spectators. Examples vary from hands-on experiments to guided tours to the labs, or from science café to public demonstration, exhibitions and debates. A rich list of possible approaches, along with practical tips on how to implement them, is outlined in the FETFX Guide for researchers and coordinators involved in FET EU funded projects.

More information on the 2018 NIGHT is available here.
